Graphic Designer
Summary:
In-house Graphic Designer is responsible for all elements of coordinating Mariani-branded and private label package design (trademark, graphics, logo, copy and communication). Comprehends the intent and objectives of the marketing team and translates it to appropriate visual design both on packaging and products. The Graphic Designer will work together with the marketing team and outside vendors to provide all necessary digital artwork files. Primary design functions include, but are not limited to package design, trade advertising layouts, corporate communications materials, consumer advertising, tradeshows, in-store promotions and elements of social media. This position works directly with the product managers under supervision of the Director of CPG Sales and Marketing.
Accountability #1 - Marketing
Coordinate the aesthetic look of the total package in regards to structure, graphics, copy, layouts, photography/illustration, and typography to meet package objectives.
Ensure federal packaging and trademark guidelines are met in both design and copy.
Create both the design and production work for packaging and products.
Maintain brand asset library for all channels including final files and related artwork and illustrations
Maintain communication between product marketing, procurement and printers in the development of artwork
Provides clear verbal and written direction to printing vendors and manage and develop new vendor contacts and quotes for outsourced projects
Ability to gather artwork assets and provide them to vendors in a variety of requested methods (CD, FTP, download link, etc.)
Work with IT on maintaining proper back up files for assets
Develop and maintain branding guidelines
Expert level proficiency in Macintosh environment, including Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Word and Excel In addition, must have good command of print technology and graphic applications.
Excellent sense of color and type, layout, design with illustration skills preferred.
Understanding of production and pre-press are essential, especially roto and litho printing methods. Attend press checks as necessary Experienced in strategic and conceptual work for new products and brand designs/redesigns
Have strong production and design capabilities

Maintains artwork and design process integrity.

Presents technical information and or procedures to the team.
Requirements
BA/BS degree preferred in Graphic Design
3
years' experience in packaging design within a packaging department
Retail package and product design experience a must
Efficient in Mac with full knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and Excel
Creative, motivated team player with versatile problem solving skills.
Experience with branding across products
Ability to work independently and as a team player
Ability to handle multiple projects & work quickly to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
Strong knowledge of printing and manufacturing
Knowledge of social media and website updating helpfulEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
